John Finley, CFA

As the Chief Investment Officer at Coyle Financial Counsel, John assumes the responsibility of overseeing the investment process. His keen interest lies in applying academic research to the management of client assets, and he possesses exceptional expertise in multi-factor model analysis.

Prior to his current role, John managed institutional fixed-income portfolios for corporations, pension funds, non-profit organizations, and foundations at renowned global asset management firms. His proficiency spans investment-grade asset classes, including government and corporate bonds, as well as mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities.

John holds an MBA in finance from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In addition, he served as an adjunct professor at Wheaton College's Business and Economics Department for a decade, imparting knowledge in investment analysis, corporate finance, and money & banking. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder and an active member of the CFA Society of Chicago.

Outside of his professional endeavors, John actively supports various charitable organizations and finds solace in birding, biking, hiking, reading, wildlife photography, and cherishing quality time with his family.
